Annie's Capri Sun Pencil Pouch

My little friend Annie turned her lunch time juice boxes into this unique pencil pouch.  She hand stitched them together!  Click here to learn to make your own or to try your hand at totes, belts, and other crafts from capri sun juice pouches.

Saturday morning farmers market

Love how these butternut squashes stay warm!  Those ear muffs and knittted caps are way too cute! This clever display made me smile, and now I want to go buy a bunch of butternut squash and knit cute little accessories for them!  What about a scarf with leftover yarn?

I didn't get the squash but I did get some colorful flowers and made a small litlle bouquet for my neighbors.  I may need to take a flower arranging class but I think that's not bad for an amateur.
Anyway, here's a picture to wish you a "happy Saturday"!

Tangerine Tango

It sounds like a yummy drink, or an exotic dance, but it's actually the pantone color of the year for 2012.  What is the color of the year?  It's the color chosen by Pantone, a world leading color authority, and originator of the color design and numbering guide that allows colors to be matched and reproduced exactly.

Here are their color picks for Spring 2012:
You will be seeing a lot of these colors in Spring 2012 in fashion as well as home decor!

What was the color for 2011?  Honeysuckle Pink...still a few more weeks for honeysuckle to reign before turning over the color of the year title to tangerine tango

May the Force be with you...

have you wanted your very own carbonite han solo?  Hubby showed me these cool ice cube trays and I thought they would make good soap molds.  Now you can make your own soap shaped like a frozen han solo!  there's also R2-D2 for those more robotically inclined.  Either way, this is an interesting project for a star wars/sci fi fan and a good gift to give for those star wars fans on your list!

Of course this is a japanese import - made by Kotokubiya with excellent detailing!

website updates...

While I (try) to post frequently, posting is completely different from updating.  I update the sidebars when the new class schedule comes out.  I don't do it frequently enough such that it is second nature to me and each time I update it, it takes longer than I want - mysteriously links don't work or they re-direct to the wrong place, or the font jumps to a different style that I did not select...the list of things that go wrong seems endless.

Anyway, with that said, I have updated the sidebar of classes and my new classes for 2012 are posted!  I am thrilled to be teaching melt and pour soap, which is one of my new classes for this semester.  And as usual, I will teach the ever popular candles class and a tub treats class too!  I hope to connect with you in one of my classes or on the blog.

Hot diggity dog!

Here are the two little friends I am pet sitting this weekend.  Both are shelties though they are different sizes.  I love the picture at the bottom - probably the best dog portrait I have taken!

Colorful loofah soap

Here's what I've been working on in my soap lab!  Love the vibrant colors.  For directions on how to make loofah soap (not quite like these but pretty similar), check out this previous blog post.  I'll be teaching this soap in my upcoming melt & pour soap basics class.
